AAYK Football Club continued our remarkable unbeaten run in the 2026 Nationwide League One (NLO) campaign with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Telu FC at the Oduduwa College Centre, Ile-Ife, Osun State.

The latest triumph marks our sixth consecutive win of the season, further confirming our status as one of the most consistent and formidable sides at the Oduduwa Centre as the race for qualification reaches a thrilling climax.
Led once again by captain fantastic Falaye Oluwadunsin and in-form striker Makinde Iyannu, we produced another spirited and disciplined performance to secure a crucial three points in front of our supporters.
We wasted no time stamping our authority on the encounter as captain Falaye Oluwadunsin opened the scoring in just the 2nd minute. Reacting brilliantly inside the penalty area, the energetic midfielder smashed the ball into the lower right corner to hand us an early advantage.
The early goal settled the team, and we continued to dominate possession while controlling the tempo of the game with confident passing and attacking movement.
Our second goal arrived in the 23rd minute through the ever-dangerous Makinde Iyannu. Olaoluwa Pelumi delivered a brilliant ball into the box from the right wing, and Makinde responded with a clinical finish, smashing the ball into the roof of the net to double our lead.
Telu FC responded positively and managed to reduce the deficit in the 34th minute, setting up a tense contest heading into halftime. Despite the pressure, we maintained composure and entered the break with a deserved 2-1 advantage.
The second half saw a more tactical battle as both teams fought intensely for control. Falaye Oluwadunsin remained influential throughout the encounter, driving the team forward and nearly adding another goal in the 61st minute with a long-range effort that narrowly sailed over the crossbar.
Our defensive unit remained disciplined in the closing stages, showing resilience and determination to preserve the lead until the final whistle.
The victory means we now head into the final day of the Oduduwa College Centre campaign level on points with Hammola FC, who currently hold a slight advantage on goal difference.
Attention now turns to next weekend’s decisive showdown against Hammola FC in what promises to be a high-stakes encounter with qualification for the Osun Centre playoff on the line. While Hammola FC only require a draw to progress, we know victory is the only result that will secure advancement.
With momentum, confidence, and belief running through the squad after six consecutive victories, the team remains fully focused on finishing the group stage strongly and fighting for qualification.
